42 Draft Design Adaptor Reveiw

Image

Sooo, I bought some Enkei RPF1 for my GTI for a really good deal…. The problem was the bolt pattern is 5×114.3. Now if you have a MK5 VW or Mercedes or Audi the bolt pattern is 5×112, unfortunately it wasn’t going to work out. But I had several options: I could get wobble bolts, or I could get the rims re drilled to 5×112, or I could buy adaptors. Wobble bolts are great because there are relatively cheap but i would need to bore out my rims in order for the wobble bolts to fit. My RPF1 is 17×9 et35 so i could have gotten my rims redrilled but I didnt because I wanted a more aggressive offset and stance. Which brings me to my adaptors…..

levin fitment

So my buddy Jason came over after I got of work to start welding up my rear quarter panels. Joseph decided to come on over as well. I picked up a 12 pack of Dos Equis and we quickly started working on the levin.

Using the hammer and a bunch of ice grips. We attempted to get the two layers of metal as close to each other as possible. The rear quarter has metal coming from the wheel well, which is factory welded together to the outer body of the 86. I had to close up the gap from cutting and grinding. An hour and a half later, we had the driver side finished. Yes we took our sweet one and almost finished a 12 pack. Hahah.

CCM 15

It’s that time of year again. Another CCM down. This time a few of the boys and I drove/rode to Houston to gather for CCM 15. The cool part this time was that we got to stay with big brother Vinson in his Houston diggs for the weekend. We tried to keep it nice and clean…. besides breaking his garage door and having Joseph pass out within the first few minutes. My non consumption of alcohol led me to be the first one to fall asleep and luckily not be held responsible for these travesties .   This weekend marked my first big trip on my motorcycle (900+ miles in 3 days total) and I found out a lot of things about motorcycle riding including the frequent need for rest stops. On one of these such rest stops we even met a guy on the outskirts of Houston who turned out to be quite the character. After first rolling up in his 5.0 soft top he made Thaison and I stay there so he could go home and get his older Celica. We didn’t think much of it until he returned in a purple older gen celica (Thaison help me out here) which was completely gutted and swapped with a 4runner motor. Needless to say the car looked like a lot of fun, and the owner had tons of fun doing the only thing you’re required to do in rural America…. burnouts. Shortly, we made it down and stopped at Mai’s restaurant in down town Houston. Little did we know the place was all kinds of fancy and we were all under dressed ( me in a motorcycle jacket and Thaison’s ripped shorts didn’t help our case). The food however was great and we sure did eat it all. We left there and made it to Vinson’s house to get ready for the next day.

Status Symbol

Im here to do a review about my Status Seat. I actually found this seat on a craigslist ad, and the guy was originally selling 2 seats with the Status bracket and mk4 r32 seat rails for 1200$. Thats was a pretty good deal since the seat alone is worth 1000$. I was originally going to buy two but after talking to my fiance (she didn’t want non reclining seats on her side) and saving money for a wedding I decided to get one. So I txted the dude and i dr0ve to Austin to pick up the seat, later my boy Thaison picked up the 2nd seat.  The owner told me there were many people that wanted to get it didnt buy it because they were to big. Im a slender guy and I would definitely say if your waist line is 34 or higher you will not fit. The seats were overall in very good condition. The black cloth faded a bit but no tears, or cracks. Just goes to show you how good the quality of build the seats are. Plus its American made so Im supporting the local business too! The carbon fiber weave is immaculate and beautiful!

Weksos Austin 2012

ImageOne of the biggest car shows was in Austin and Natsukashi Garage got to represent!! The show had alot of very top quality cars. There was a screening process months before the show started and I was glad I made it through. This was my first car show where my car was actually in it and what a better place than Weksos! Just a day before Weksos Branden and I almost got the Weksos curse! We were driving to burn gas, since you have to be 1/4 tank prior to getting in the show, and we almost got into a head on collision from stupid driver that was going too fast in the rain. Whew that was close and thank goodness no one was hurt. Anyways real glad I could be a part of Weksos with Natsukashi Garage and onto the pics!

Life Ramblings

Natsukashi Garage for me has always been about more then just the cars. Since a lot our lives are spent around them you develop more of a relationship with the cars and the people behind them than you anticipate. Sometimes however we need to take a step back from everything in our lives and re-evaluate everything that’s going on our them. These past couple of weeks I have been going through a bit of a struggle and though this site has always been about the cars I’d like to take this time to address the people and life in general.

Judging people about their cars is something that everyone does. On the outside a car can look beat up, super clean, have expensive parts, or even have parts that others would laugh about. To me I think cars are like people. Everyone is different on the outside from clothes to body type to even race or religion. These visual queues leave us to make assumptions about people or cars right off the bat when really we know absolutely nothing about them. I think it’s a serious problem that has always been apart of our society regardless of how much we preach about getting to know a person or even a car first. What I ask of our readers is to have everyone take their time more to get really get to know people or their builds before we pass judgement. It’s a problem I know that I myself need to address especially since I have at times been considered a purist (ie no fake wheels, fake parts, etc). One of the problems with making such judgement is that people are always growing. I myself have grown from my hatch which started out with only fake parts to slowly filtering them all out until things were the way as I saw fit. I see my progress continuing with the SI. Now I would rather save for that part that means so much to me rather then just go out and buy the knockoff at half price. After all, patience is a virtue. Growing is all a part of the process and if we constantly ridicule people for their cars or who they are we may never get to see what they can really become. I want to see everyone grow. I want to see builds grow. You can have the biggest POS on the road and if you love it to death and drive it all the time just to drive it I want to meet you. I want you to tell me your plans and dreams for your car. We all start somewhere and I’m just glad that you are starting and keeping this society that I love alive. I’m sure at this point I’m just rambling and I’m sure all the context of this post has been lost but if you made it this far into reading I thank you.

Lastly, I would like to take this time to tell all of you how much I appreciate you. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you. Everyone that I have ever met, especially through Natsukashi Garage, has made a great impact in my life. It’s everyone out there that is working hard to achieve a goal that inspires me and, if I may say so, us of Natsukashi Garage to keep pushing on in life whether it be cars, careers, or whatever. Stay true to who you are and don’t let people tell you that you can’t when you can. See you all at Wekfest tomorrow.

Cheers,
Branden

Slammed life

So as of recent, I’ve been missing how my 86 drove and felt when it was just hammered to the ground. Back before, I ran slammed in m celica supra 14″ wheels. Needless to say, it was lowlowlowlow.

After I threw my 15’s on I decided to raise it bc it was soooo harsh driving around town. But I soon realized I wasn’t happy with that height Continue reading
