M3 progress (fixing mistakes, and some minor track mods)

Untitled

Since I pulled out the intake system for the m3, it gave me the opportunity is thermal wrap the intake and the intake box. I hit up my friend Joe from PTP Turbo Blanket for some rolls. The intake system on the m3 is fairly big and ended up using almost 2 rolls of tape! Ill soon find out how effective the thermal tape is once I track this weekend! Sure has a bling factor and something to pop my hood for at the meets hahaha.

Next was fixing the leaking oil cap… BMW didn’t design a good oil cap for the S65 motor becuase it started to leak at 65k miles! My  BMW335i currently has 138k miles and the oil cap never leaked.

Untitled

My M3 has the old version oil cap for the S65 motor. What I did was use Hondabond on the oil cap and then put the rubber ring back on. On the safe I did buy an updated oil cap for $20 on ECStuning. Currently the Hondabond trick is working but at least I have a spare updated backup one just in case it starts to seep again. Since I was replacing my valve covers I might as well replace the spark plugs too. The wear on them didn’t look bad at all.

Untitled

Then more of track prepping, I replaced my rims and brake pads for the track. This is my third time doing this soo it was fairly easy and fast. Now my brakes squeal like a train again hahaha.

After replacing my valve covers (for the first time)…. it started to leak oil -_-  Frustrating to work hard to fix something but it ends up needing to be fixed again. For a week I was trying to figure out where this oil leak was coming from. Over the  weekend I deduced it from the passenger side valve cover. So I re-tightened the valve cover bolts and cleaned the valve cover. Yesterday, I drove the car to cars and coffee and noticed it was still leaking.

Untitled

Later that day after the engine had cooled down, I felt the right rear side valve cover and it was oily! Another sign was the oil was pooling the ride side of the skid plate. So I had no choice but pull out the valve cover and see whats exactly why the valve cover is leaking oil. That’s what I did today.

Untitled

One of the benefits of redoing something is you know what are doing now and can take that experience gained to be more efficient. I managed to take off the valve cover in 2 hrs. Perviously it took me 5 hours to take off the valve covers.

Untitled

I did notice while pulling some the valve cover bolts that it was covered in oil. Anther sign that the valve cover was leaking. and upon closer inspection I found the reason why. The valve cover gasket was pinched which didn’t seat properly.

Untitled

Untitled

You can see the pinched valve cover caused a tear! I think what caused this was me rushing the job. The valve cover gasket wasn’t aligned properly before I had tightened it. I had put in over 8 hrs in, that I wanted to get done. You live from your mistakes.

Untitled

Another mistake that I did was assembling the  breather valve the first time was snapping a bolt when I was lightning it. Again the mistake was just rushing.

Untitled Untitled

At the time I was too lazy and frustrated with myself to undo everything just so I can get the broken bolt out. It wasn’t leaking in that area so I didn’t bother. But now since I had to redo my valve cover gasket now would the perfect time to remove that broken bolt.

Untitled

Thanks to my friend, Donnie, he recommended Craftsman bolt extractor set. Pretty cheap and comes in handy. Im pretty sure it ill be needing these again in the future.

Currently Im just waiting for my OEM valve cover gasket to arrive, hopefully before this weekend track day! Its cutting close but this experience has taught me a lot and it always good to invest in some good tools. Makes working on your car easier and you also get to familiarize yourself to your car.

Track cleaning

Im in the process of doing a spark plug and valve cover gasket change on my M3 and while removing the plenum and intake I noticed they where very dirty after 1 year of tracking. The intake box even had some pieces of rubber marble!

Untitled

Very dirty air filter. Good thing I still have my K&N air filter cleaning kit. Works pretty well

Untitled

Untitled

Very dirty engine bay… All that dust from tracking and dirt getting kicked up.

Untitled

With the plenum and intake box removed I can now change the spark plugs and valve cover! Which I will do this weekend.

Track Tires on Non-Tracked cars

I’ve seen this many times especially at car shows and car meets. First lets talk about what makes a tire more track oriented then then normal street tires

MSRH Jan 2017-22

A track tire has lower tread wear rating than a street tire. When a tread wear rating is lower it means the tire wears out faster. For example a 200 tread wear tire will wear out faster then a 300 tread wear tire. Doesn’t matter how you drive it, a lower tread wear tire will always wear out faster. I’ve seen some tires with tread wear of 40! They would probably last maybe one or two track days depending on how use them. A good balance for a tire that is capable on the street and track is the 300 tread wear range. The Michelin Pilot Super Sport is a good example. It doesn’t wear out too quickly for daily street use and still capable at the track.

MSRH Jan 2017-34

Track tires have a softer compound which sacrifice rubber faster to get the additional grip. To get more grip you need softer compound tires but the downside is they don’t last as long compared to a higher tread wear (harder compound) tires.

Untitled

The tread design (pattern) on a track oriented tire is more aggressive than a normal street tire. Not only it looks cool but the aggressive pattern on track oriented tires provide more grip particularly in the dry then in the wet. The aggressive tread design allows more rubber to be contacting the road. The downside to this you sacrifice wet grip performance. The bigger rubber contact patch with less groves doesn’t channel water out effectively compared to a street tire. Sometimes track tires are so horrible on the wet and all you do is slide all over the road. Ive been there.

NASA TWS 2016 pics-36

With a softer compound and more aggressive tread pattern, has another drawback that you sacrifice. Its road noise and harsher ride. Track oriented tires produce a lot more road noise than a street tire. Some people are thinking is not bad but you will hear a difference. Some track oriented tires sound like mud tires or as if your wheel bearing is bad. When I switch back to my street tires from the track I do notice the car is a lot quieter, more civilized. The sidewalls on a track tire is a lot stiffer then a street tire. A stiffer side wall allows better road feedback but when you are on bumpy roads you really feel it. Not in a comfortable way either.  For more performance you sacrifice some comfort too.

Untitled

Is it worth spending the extra money to buy more aggressive tires for the street?

Nope…. and here is why. Track tires or track oriented tires for that matter was designed to perform, at its best, on the track. At the track you are hitting 1g constantly, heat generated at the track makes the tires sticky providing more grip as you continue doing laps. On the street, you don’t subject your tires to that abuse you see at the track. You’ll never get a track oriented tire up to its full grip on the street becuase the tires are too cold to generate enough grip. Im pretty sure that’s why some cars crash on the street becuase of this. Regular street tires gets the job done just as fine. At least with street tires they are more forgiving at the limit and its at lower speeds when they lose grip.

MSRH Sept 24-25 2016-37

Basically you are not using the track tire to is full potential on the street because you are under using the tire.

People are just wasting money on a tire that wears out faster, poor wet grip, noisy tire, and more uncomfortable on the street. Sure it may look cool and can say it has more grip but honestly it wont grip as much unless you track it. You wont look skinny if you just wear the gym clothes, you actually have to go to the gym.

MSRH Sept 24-25 2016-17//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js

Its just my opinion and maybe some of the readers might get hurt or some might agree but thats what makes the car community soo diverse. Some people are more for the show and thats it. I was about that once. But for me, if I did a mod for the M3 its going to be for the track and not for a show… Because why pay money to park your car and stand around when you a can pay to to drive your car and yourself at the limit and learn some new things along the way.

NASA track day at MSR Houston (pictures)

The start of the 2017 track season went off very well! The weather was very chilly with morning temps in the low 40s. This was first tracking in the cold weather and was interested how the car is going to handle since it might take longer for the tires and brakes to get up to temp. MSRH Jan 2017-42 I invited my friend Alex from Street Form to come by and see what a track is all about. This was his first time attending a track day and I hope to make it a good one. Kinda shows a different side of the the car since which isn’t just trailer queens. MSRH Jan 2017-04

MSRH Jan 2017-01 Some of my track friends also joined in on the fun. Nick currently drives the silver Miata and runs in the Time Trial classes. His fastest time was 1:48 second range and won 2nd place in his class. MSRH Jan 2017-03

Lenard’s BOSS Mustang, this is his 2nd track event but his first time at this track. By the 2nd day he managed to move up to DE 2! The track mods already starting, with a spare set of BBS wheels with Hankook RS3 tires just for the track. He even removed his seats haha.

MSRH Jan 2017-02 MSRH Jan 2017-26

Speaking of rear seat removal I also removed mine haha. I didn’t really feel much of a difference at the track but it sure look more race car.

MSRH Jan 2017-28 MSRH Jan 2017-27

My other track friend Kaina tracked his Silver RSX and he managed to clock under the 2 min range with street tires! His mods might not be much but its really the driver and not the car that make you better. More seat time is the what helps you improve. Before tracking, he was about the stance life.

MSRH Jan 2017-05 Greg Smith Racing and their all white E92 M3. I met the owner and the rest of the crew and they were really nice folks. I got some tips on future track mods for my e92 M3. The sure know how to set up an M3 because they placed first in their class. MSRH Jan 2017-13

Even the trailer/mobile home set up is pretty legit.

MSRH Jan 2017-06 Lots of races going on at NASA. A GT3 Porsche pulling in the pits. MSRH Jan 2017-07

You have different race classes going all at once. Kinda like how Le Mans series is.

MSRH Jan 2017-08 MSRH Jan 2017-11

MSRH Jan 2017-14

You have open wheel racing to time trials. All highly competitive.

MSRH Jan 2017-17

There was some few incidences. The Porsche was competing in the German Touring class another type of open wheel racing. I wonder what caused it break down.

MSRH Jan 2017-16

Miatas are a very popular cars to track because of its low maintenance cost but a Honda CRX is another great alternative.

MSRH Jan 2017-20

This radical had exposed carbon fiber as the body. The set up on this must be crazy and the owner must have deep pockets.

MSRH Jan 2017-21 MSRH Jan 2017-19

MSRH Jan 2017-22 MSRH Jan 2017-23

I happened to be in same run group with this black Corvette Z06 supercharged. Man that thing hauls and passes cars like they where not even moving. Sounded soo mean. It nice seeing people actually use their car they way it was supposed to be and not doing stupid stuff in the streets.

MSRH Jan 2017-24

More American muscle for ya.

MSRH Jan 2017-29

Two different styles but both track built.

MSRH Jan 2017-30

Beautiful yellow Porsche, worth north of 100k.

MSRH Jan 2017-32

The brakes on the GT3 RS is art. I can tell it has seen some track days too because you can see the rubber pick up on the side skirts and lower fender.

MSRH Jan 2017-31

The GT3 RS was parked next to the Mills racing trailer/tent. Did you know that Mills racing team actually races professionally and I was told that BMW wants the driver to race their M6! Their set up at the track was crazy and just goes to show even pro drivers will show up at amateur events. He is even selling his old race cars. Including this M3 GTR chassis with the S65 motor (the e9x m3 V8 motor)!

MSRH Jan 2017-33

It selling for a cool $55k including spare parts. Man a real E36 M3 GTR powered by the S65 motor is bargain at $55k. Who wants to pitch in and start a race team?

MSRH Jan 2017-37

Here is another more mild E36 M3 with some track mods. I actually met the owner and was kind enough to share the garage! He car was built by the guys at Greg Smith Racing. The engine and drivetrain is all stock for reliability but almost every suspension component has been replaced and the rear interior striped with a half cage. The E36 M3 pulling decent times in the 1:55 second range.

MSRH Jan 2017-38

The office of the E36 M3.

MSRH Jan 2017-39

Very nice 370Z Nismo, and lady driven too.

MSRH Jan 2017-41

The spec Miata class. One of the most competitive open wheel racing that NASA offers. The rules are very strict that the cars are evenly match. Its mainly a drivers skill at this competition.

MSRH Jan 2017-46 More radicals… they literally have their own garage at the track.

MSRH Jan 2017-40

Brand new Lotus Evora.

MSRH Jan 2017-43 I managed to talk to the driver of this S2000 and he was in my run group in a couple of sessions. Those time trial drivers are super fast. He blasted by me and I couldn’t keep up! He ended getting 2nd place in his class.

MSRH Jan 2017-44

His mods where pretty minimal compared to the other TT cars. I did notice he i on Federal RSR tires which was a tire I was interested in becuase of its cheap price. He gave some good insite on these tires. Anther reason that its the driver the makes the car fast.

MSRH Jan 2017-45Some race team spend a lot of money just on traveling but makes sense since NASA has race events all over Texas. Even though its just amateur level, you get a sense of kind of money people spend to go racing.

Thats it for now… Next track day is in March which gives me time to do some maintenance on the M3.

Getting ready for the 2017 track season!

Untitled

I’m back from vacation and excited to start tracking again! The withdrawals are real!

Last weekend some of my friends came over to help (which was much needed), becuase Im not mechanic savvy at all and Im slow working on cars. My neighbor came by to help and came in with the clutch becuase my tool box is ill equipped. The M3 last track day was in October, and was due for fluid changes. I flushed the dirty power steering fluid, flushed my brake fluid with Motul RBF 600 racing fluid. I did have Motul dot 5.1 before but there were times times at the end of the track sessions that the brakes would feel kinda mushy (only for a brief moment). I hope a higher temp brake fluid will fix that. Then I was next to changing the street pad to track pads. If you are tracking often I recommend on getting a set for the street and another for the track. Becuase there isn’t a pad that performs best on both worlds.

Untitled

Lam came by too, but he came mainly to check out the house. We were pretty much done on working on the M3 when he came by.

Untitled

While changing pads I did have time to test fit my iForge wheel… It did fit but I think this look will be better on the 335i. Still need to finish in refinishing them first.

Untitled

The next day I went to Backyard Auto for an oil change, alignment check, and tech inspection for the upcoming track days. Everything checkout fine!

Untitled

The last thing I did was place a shop rag around the power steering reservoir because at the track the E9x M3 are known to have their ps fluid boil over and get all over the engine bay. In past track days, I have notice some fluid spill out of the reservoir so this rag will soak up any spills.

Untitled

Track scars.

First track day of the season is this weekend at MSR Houston. If y’all in the area come by and say hi!

NASA Texas World Speedway part 2 (pictures)

As from my previous post this was my first time with NASA and at Texas World Speedway. Lucky its not a too far of a drive from Houston. About 1hr and 30 minute drive for me. Since it was my first time at the track I signed up for HPDE 2 which later on that day I regret because of traffic, so bad I would hit a train at least once in my sessions.

NASA TWS 2016 pics-01

Unlike other HPDE organizers, NASA also has other forms of racing with different classes. So you see a lot of different style cars. With many different races and HPDE going on, it gets fast paced and you have to know when to grid up. There wasn’t a PA informing your next sessions. They do give you the schedule on what time you are supposed to grid. The HPDE class was split into two groups. HPDE 1 and 2 was one group and the more advance HPDE 3 and 4 was the 2nd group.

Untitled

Since I put myself in HPDE 2 there wasn’t many of us and more of HPDE 1 (which is okay) but for me, I was held back with the late pass signals and trains during my sessions. Kinda frustrating but I didn’t want to put pressure on the HPDE 1 drivers. Most of them here is their very first track day. I know how that was like.

Untitled

I didn’t have an instructor with me for my session till the very last session. I wish I had started off with an instructor because I wanted to be checked off for HPDE 3 but next time I’ll just put myself in HPDE 3. Since now I have tracked there I feel more comfortable in the more advanced group. Regardless I did have fun, and its a really fast track that isn’t too hard on the brakes like Circuit of the Americas. I was hitting 140mph when I didn’t run into traffic on the main straight! That was fun! I love going fast without having to worry about going to jail.

Untitled

On to the photos!

NASA TWS 2016 pics-02

Awesome sunrise view. The first session of the day was the American Iron class. There are different rules in each class and can get very competitive. Looks like most the cars in this class was older Mustangs and Camaros. Nothing like the sounds of roaring V8s to wake you up in the morning.

Untitled

Noticed this fully track spec E92 M3 immediately when I got to the paddocks. Serious business and the looks like it the time trials class. I remember seeing this car with a front wing online getting hate, and in my opinion it looks better without it.

NASA TWS 2016 pics-03 NASA TWS 2016 pics-04

Beautiful Porsche 911. This might be the same car I saw at MSR Houston the next day.

NASA TWS 2016 pics-05

The time trial classes. They are split into 4 groups and each group is categorized according to weight and power. I want to get my TT license hopefully next year. I know I wont be competitive, but more for myself to beat my own times. Once you get your TT license you can also join HPDE 4 and 3 sessions too! More value for your money!

NASA TWS 2016 pics-06

American muscle and Japanese lightness.

NASA TWS 2016 pics-07

Lining up to grid. Some point in my life I’ll probably have a dedicated track car. Something cheap and easy to repair and maintain.

See you get all types of cars at NASA.

Soul Speed Performance, that an Austin shop I used to go to for my alignment. This Boxter is in the GTS class.

NASA TWS 2016 pics-12 NASA TWS 2016 pics-13

Miata party! Looks like it the spec Miata class. A very popular class becuase Miatas are relatively cheap to maintain and with a 50/50 weight distribution and RWD layout’ its perfect for the track. I seen some pretty young kids probably 16 years old in this class.

NASA TWS 2016 pics-14 NASA TWS 2016 pics-15

My favorite class is the TT class becuase most of the cars in are not fully stripped race cars. They still retain some their street functionality.

NASA TWS 2016 pics-15

Yeah they might have roll cages and missing seats but you go out for a drive on the street and get groceries or put your golf clubs in and still enjoy the AC in some of the cars.

Awesome place. This is my 2nd favorite track. I heard the track will close down soon, it you haven’t tracked here you should at least once!

NASA TWS 2016 pics-23

This white E92 M3 was in the HPDE 3,4 class. Thas M3 has full coilovers, NT01 tires, rear seats taken out, Schroth 4 pt harness, Stop Tech BBK, and Akrapovic exhaust. Great choices in track mods. Another thing I noticed most e9x M3 at the track are alpine white.

NASA TWS 2016 pics-24

Some people come here with race crews. I you got the money why not! You can R&D your parts at the track before you sell to the consumers.

NASA TWS 2016 pics-25 NASA TWS 2016 pics-26

Looks like the spec Miatas are being weighed in before there sessions. The competition is real at NASA.

NASA TWS 2016 pics-55

NASA TWS 2016 pics-56

The gentleman that owned this Porsche told me at NASA its club racing, and you don’t win lots of money. You get a feel of what its like to race in competitions with other cars, and getting into the sprit of racing. Most the people have spent their own money to race and not from sponsors. There isn’t a pro team that is looking for drive, or big cash payout or spotters looking for next Lewis Hamilton. Probably most of them wont go pro but its their passion and love of racing that keeps coming back. I can relate. After one year of going to track days, I realize I probably won’t go pro but at least I can still experience the same feeling any racing driver would at the track.

Looking forward to the 2017 NASA track schedule.

NASA Texas World Speedway (video)

After Wekfest I had another track day this time with NASA. It’s my first time with this organization, and they don’t just offer HPDE and also racing series of different classes. This was my first time at Texas World Speedway and I hope it will stay for awhile becuase I love this track mainly because how fast you can go on the main straight. Fastest time I got was in the 2 min and 8 second range. I knew I could go faster but I has hitting traffic in each lap. Didn’t mind though, you learn to set up for a pass.

This one has lots of passing…. My goal next year is to get under 2mins.

Part 2…..

All the pictures I took was actually during the staging. Trying to take pictures when the general public is there is tough because there just soo many people. On to the pictures…

wekfest 2016 part 2-01 Bagged BMW X6, such a big cross over SUV…. Its not like X5 SUV but similar to Range Rover Evoque. The massive rims make the 6 pot brake medium sized lol. wekfest 2016 part 2-02

wekfest 2016 part 2-03 Then right next to the X6 you have this lifted Tundra. I would rather choose this over the X6 for my daily. Plus it would make a great tow rig for the M3. One day when I win the lotto. wekfest 2016 part 2-04

Wekfest prep still going on… I didn’t do any of that. I just showed up and called it a day. Pretty tired from last night and I had a track day the next week so I didn’t bother to do any prep.

wekfest 2016 part 2-21

Seems over-fenders is still in for 2016. This STI had aggressive styling but not sure if the rims fit with the style. Looks like more of a VIP type of rim… I would put a more track oriented rim, but thats just my opinion.

wekfest 2016 part 2-22

wekfest 2016 part 2-23

Teal and grey combo, could nver go wrong with that.

wekfest 2016 part 2-25

This De Sol has always been showing at Wekfest Texas, doesn’t look much has changed since last year but its still a great build.

wekfest 2016 part 2-26

The roll cage matches the rims. Nice simple touches that just flow with the car.

wekfest 2016 part 2-27

wekfest part 3-02 Clean and simple laid out Passat. The smooth rims kinda gives it a hot rod look. wekfest part 3-01

wekfest part 3-03 Vibrant colors here. wekfest part 3-04

Murdered out Supra almost a sleeper, I wonder if it has power….

wekfest part 3-05 The stance is strong with this Civic. I think it had a sticker stating its stating static. wekfest part 3-06

Just because you have a van doesn’t mean you give up on the car life hahaha.

wekfest part 3-08 Wide booty on this 370Z. I had a chance to drive one for a couple of days. Its a good car and can make a great track car but it only has two seats and not much trunk space. I would say its more of a 2nd or 3rd car if you have a family. wekfest part 3-09

wekfest part 3-10 The fitment and stretch on this is crazy! Im pretty sure the PSI on the tires has to be at least 50psi just to prevent the tire from de-beeding. wekfest part 3-12

I do like this style, eventhough Im a track guy. I was once all about that life.

wekfest part 3-11 The wide body kit on this thing is just crazy. Looks something of the future, and I think its probably a complete one off custom body kit. wekfest part 3-14

wekfest part 3-13 The interior is kept mainly stock… Maybe the owner has plans for it in the future. wekfest part 3-16

More BMW with this 335i. This has the Arkym front bumper with vented hood. Liking the Volk rims too.

wekfest part 3-17 wekfest part 3-15

wekfest part 3-18 Square One NSX looking good. The value of these cars recently skyrocked over the years. wekfest part 3-19

wekfest part 3-20 wekfest part 3-21

Liking the overall build of this NSX. Tastefully modified.

wekfest part 3-22 Not sure of the brand of over fenders but looks like Liberty Walk 270Z? wekfest part 3-23

wekfest part 3-24 wekfest part 3-25

The white Lexus GS is also another common Wekfest showee. Not much done since last year. I did noticed the different style fender. Closer inspection and looks like its made out of carbon fiber. Pretty hard to improve on a car that already built very well too. Always a show stopper.

wekfest part 3-26 Same thing with Tom’s S2000. Not much changes noted from last year, but its still killing the game.

wekfest part 3-27

Speaking of killing the game, check out this E92 M3. Being a M3 owner I noticed a lot of money has been dropped into this car. Liberty Walk body kit (which seems to be the theme this year),ESS supercharger, and bagged on Rotiforms.

wekfest part 3-29 wekfest part 3-28

Custom painted intake plenum from the ESS supercharger kit.

wekfest part 3-30 The deep dish of the Rotiforms fills the fenders nicely. I could tell the brakes are still stock peeking through the rims, wish it had BBK on it but Im sure we’ll see it soon. The owner dropped at least 10k on the car because the supercharger goes around for that price. Another 5k on brakes wouldn’t hurt lol.

wekfest part 3-31

And Ill end off with this VIP style BMW 335i. Has the 1M bumper too. Nice OEM plus touch. Similar to how the the Vdub guys mix and match bumpers from other VW models.

Part 3 soon to come!

Wekfest Texas 2016 part 1

Since I’ve been tracking, I stop caring about car shows… I mean why pay to park your car and stand around for hours? But Wekfest is a different story. Its still the best car show in Texas and it the only car show I would enter my car in. Wekfest is a show about quality builds and I like that. Thankfully I made screening process and I headed to Wekfest Houston.

Untitled

I didn’t have time to clean my car for Wekfest, because I had a track day recently and then I was working right before Wekfest. I didn’t mind the dirty track look anyways, it’s being used for its purpose.

Anyways enough about me and on to the photos…

wekfest 2016 part 1-01

This MK2 GTI was one the cleaner euros I saw. The details on this this thing is soo much every time you pass by it again you notice something else different. Loving this build, I was once a Vdub guy too.

wekfest 2016 part 1-02

wekfest 2016 part 1-03

16V boosted with a shaved engine bay. I notice a lot of the Wekfest cars have the shaved bays which it pretty nice. I personally don’t know how to do it but its a lot hours and paying attention to detail.

wekfest 2016 part 1-04

Euro front end.

wekfest 2016 part 1-05

Seen this build on IG and its pretty nice. Im not a stance guy anymore but I do appreciate the build and effort that has been done to it. Its aggressive but not annoying.

wekfest 2016 part 1-06

Also showcasing a shaved bay and some polished parts. Supercharged to back up the aggressive stance.

wekfest 2016 part 1-07

Simple S2000 with VOLK TE37 and Toyo R8888.

wekfest 2016 part 1-08

I am a fan of Volks….

wekfest 2016 part 1-09

This one rocking even more aggresive tires. Hankooks TDs, I’ve heard positive things about this tire on the track…. I don’t think this owner tracks his s2000 though. The tires don’t show track use…

wekfest 2016 part 1-10

Clean Integra with Mugen parts

wekfest 2016 part 1-12

BMW E36 with aggressive over fenders, looks custom made too. The BBS RS fills them in nicely.

wekfest 2016 part 1-13

I’ve seen this red E36 M3 at the Mayday meets and on IG. Hasn’t changed much looks wise over the years but it recently has Car Shop Glow LED tail lights.

wekfest 2016 part 1-14

JDM wheels

wekfest 2016 part 1-15

This RSX was one my favorite Hondas. Its race inspired with stripped out interior and he even relocated the battery behind the front bumper. Its the little details that count. The car has never been tracked but the owner was interested in tracking his car someday.

wekfest 2016 part 1-16

Murdered out R25 GTR. Those things are super fast even in stock form.

wekfest 2016 part 1-17

Bagged and suppercheged civic. Some go for that show.

wekfest 2016 part 1-18 wekfest 2016 part 1-19

Some love for the single overhead cam owners out there. This D series is even boosted…

wekfest 2016 part 1-20

Boosted FRS…. A lot of the cars in the show actually had some aftermarket boost. Just kinda tells you that Wekfest isn’t a show for basic cars. People really put time and money into their cars.

wekfest 2016 part 1-21

H22A Prelude on VIP modular wheels… I think it’s VIP modular.

wekfest 2016 part 1-22

That carbon fiber intake and those bends on the header.

wekfest 2016 part 1-23

My homie, Marc’s NA miata. Should have seen this car when he first bought it. I was there and the car looked like shit. It has come a long way and won 2nd best Mazda! This was Marc first Wekfest show too! Beginners luck? hahaha. Congrats Marc!

wekfest 2016 part 1-33 wekfest 2016 part 1-24

B series swapped CRX with a shaved engine bay. I remember when Donnie has his CRX and that thing was peppy.

wekfest 2016 part 1-26

Donnie has now moved on to Toyota Carina rocking old school SSR MKII wheels, with the fender mirrors. Loving the classic look. The time when cars where much simpler. I see these cars in the Philippines but just not at as nice as Donnie.

wekfest 2016 part 1-27

Genuine RHD with old school Recaro.

wekfest 2016 part 1-25

Work X Volk

wekfest 2016 part 1-30

Another look of the flared out E36.

wekfest 2016 part 1-31 RB motoring with the R32 GTS.

wekfest 2016 part 1-32

wekfest 2016 part 1-35 Laid out.

wekfest 2016 part 1-34

Another clean Prelude on Work Razax, and probably bagged too.

wekfest 2016 part 1-36 All about the fitment. wekfest 2016 part 1-37

wekfest 2016 part 1-38 K swaped DeSol. Shaved bay too and Mugen parts

wekfest 2016 part 1-39

Another very clean EK Civic on Bridgstone RE71R tires. Another great track tire.

wekfest 2016 part 1-40 Integra Type R with Mugen wheels.

wekfest 2016 part 1-41

Laied out Lexus with Aimgain accents.

wekfest 2016 part 1-42 wekfest 2016 part 1-43

My favorite S2000, with Volk wheels, Advan Neova tires and Mugen bumper. This car just screams for the track… But I don’t it has been tracked, because the tires again doesn’t show any signs of track abuse or track battle scars. I could be wrong and maybe the owner just mounted new set of Advan tires or got a fresh re paint.

wekfest 2016 part 1-44 wekfest 2016 part 1-45

wekfest 2016 part 1-47 Then you have a super aggressive styled S2000.

wekfest 2016 part 1-46

wekfest 2016 part 1-48 This TL is on Rotiform 3 pc rims and the quality Rotiform is something replica wheels can replicate. wekfest 2016 part 1-49

wekfest 2016 part 1-50 Bagged Jetta, liking the color on this. wekfest 2016 part 1-52

A civic with No Good Racing livery…. I don’t think this civic is part of No Good Racing but its paying homage to it and I dig that. The engine build on this looks like its ready for the drag strip.

wekfest 2016 part 1-53

Stay tuned for part 2….
